I am so excited to start my Mompreneur Monday series off with this wonderful soul, Sharon Montealeagre (Hidalgo). She is my cousin's wife, and such a positive person. No wonder her company's philosophy is all about spreading love and positive vibes.

Sharon has two boys, Myles and Julien aka Juju (who is also my godson). When asked about how motherhood has been for her, she expressed that it is not easy (which I completely agree with). As someone who had to go through IVF twice to have her baby boys, having her sons made her appreciate them so much, even if she says "they can irritate me sometimes". That is all part of motherhood. It can get exhausting, it can get frustrating, but as mothers, we all have to pull ourselves together. Sharon says "once my mom was over, and she was watching the baby so I could take a shower, and then I heard her saying, 'the baby is crying!'. I just cried and thought I just need a minute to myself! After I was done letting all my emotions out, I had to pull myself together and get back out there and be a mom". She is courageous, and brave and so honest about her experience, that I could definitely empathize and relate.

Sharon gave some great key pieces of advice to being a better mom and wife:

- Be kind to yourself.

- Be your own best friend.

- Stay positive and be appreciative of the small things.

- Have your own time for yourself.

- Apologize to your kids.

- Be a better person, not only for yourself, but also for your marriage and your kids.

- Take trips by yourself or with your friends. They say mom vacations are much needed in order for mothers to stay sane.

- Try to do date nights with your spouse.

- Seek help if you need it.

- Couples therapy, to work out any concerns in your marriage.

- Self care is so important.

Why she became a "Mompreneur":

Sharon is a creative type. In the past she worked as a retail interior designer, which meant working a 9am-5pm job. When she had her first son, she realized that she didn't have enough time with him. By the time she got home from work, had to cook, clean and then put him to bed, the day was almost over. "I wanted to spend more time with my kids", she said. And so, she decided to start her own endeavour.

Her first entrepreneurial pursuit was an accessory line for kids, called Preppy Littles. She says that for anyone who wants to start their own business, make sure that you don't "half-ass" it. Fully committing, putting in time and effort, and being professional is something she says, will make the difference in running a business. Now she works part-time for an airline, and is also running Hippocampus Supply Co. with her husband, René.

Sharon discovered a love and passion for the K-Pop culture, which is how Hippo Campus Supply Co. was born. She gives credit to her husband for giving her the support and idea to start a company based on something she loved. Sharon mentions that in a lot of K-Pop dramas and music, there many symbols for love, appreciation and gratitude, which how they came up with their first design, the "finger heart".

Their new line is called "XOXO", another symbol to show love. There have many more lines to come, one being a cute animal line, in which proceeds from those sales will go back to Animal Sanctuaries. Sharon expresses her love for animals, which is why she wanted to do something for them.

Hippo Campus Supply Co. caters to men, women, children, and of course those who love the K-Pop culture!
